This Privacy Policy explains how Steel Building Garages (“Steel Building Garages,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you visit www.steelbuildinggarages.com and our consultation pages at pro.steelbuildinggarages.com (the “Site”), request pricing or a quote, call or chat with us, or buy from us. It also describes the privacy rights available to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”), and to residents of other states with similar laws.
Quick summary: We use your information only to answer your pricing, product, or order questions and to deliver and build your structure. The details needed for that work are given only to the building contractors, installers, and delivery providers who perform it for you. We do not sell or share your contact details with anyone else. Advertising tools on this Site stay off until you turn them on, and you can change your choice at any time under Your Privacy Choices.

1. Notice at Collection
When you submit a form, place an order, call or chat with us, we collect the categories of personal information listed in Section 2 to answer pricing, product, and order inquiries, prepare quotes, process orders and financing requests you ask for, schedule delivery and construction, and provide customer support. The information needed to perform that work is given only to the building contractors, installers, and delivery providers who price, deliver, or build your structure on your behalf. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your contact details for advertising. If you allow advertising cookies, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and LinkedIn receive browsing data from your device as described in Section 5; that stays off unless you opt in. Retention periods are described in Section 8.
2. Information We Collect
In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information:
| Category (CCPA) | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, phone number, delivery or site address, IP address, order or quote number | You; your device |
| Customer records (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80) | Name, address, phone, and payment details (card data is handled by our payment processor, not stored by us) | You; payment processors |
| Commercial information | Building sizes and options, quotes, orders, deposits, financing requests, purchase history | You |
| Internet or network activity | Pages viewed, referring page, browser and device type, and the ad campaign or source that brought you to the Site, which we record with form submissions | Your device; cookies (advertising cookies only with your consent) |
| Approximate geolocation | State and ZIP code you enter, and general location derived from IP address | You; your device |
| Audio and electronic information | Recordings of phone calls; chat and text message transcripts | You, when you contact us |
We do not collect sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. If a financing provider you choose asks for information such as your date of birth or Social Security number, that information goes directly to the financing provider under its own privacy policy.
3. How We Use Information
- To answer pricing, product, and order inquiries and prepare quotes.
- To process orders, deposits, and payments, and to connect you with financing you request.
- To schedule and carry out delivery, construction, installation, warranty service, and customer support.
- To contact you about your inquiry or order by phone, text, or email.
- To send product information and offers only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To measure and improve our Site and advertising, only if you allow advertising cookies.
- To protect the Site, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
4. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We disclose personal information only as follows:
- Contractors who perform the work for you. The information needed to service your pricing, product, or order inquiry, delivery, or construction (such as your name, phone, email, and site address, and your building order) is given only to the building contractors, installers, and delivery providers who perform that work on your behalf, solely to service or fulfill your order. They may use it only for that work and for no other purpose.
- Service providers that operate our business under contract and may use information only to provide their services to us: website hosting, email delivery, form processing, customer messaging and chat (LeadConnector), and payment processing.
- Financing providers, only if you ask us to help you apply for financing.
- Legal and safety. When required by law or legal process, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We never give your name, email, phone number, or address to advertising partners, data brokers, or other businesses for their own marketing. We do not use Meta or Google “advanced matching” or customer-list uploads with your contact details.
In the past 12 months, we disclosed identifiers, customer records, commercial information, and approximate geolocation for business purposes to contractors, service providers, and financing providers as described above. For visitors who allowed advertising cookies, internet activity from their device was made available to Google, Meta, Microsoft, and LinkedIn through their tags (see Section 5).
5. Cookies, Pixels, and Your Consent Choices
On your first visit we ask what you want to allow. Until you choose, only the cookies needed to run the Site are used, along with a cookie that remembers your choice. No advertising scripts load.
| Category | Tools | Purpose | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | WordPress, WooCommerce, Elementor forms, LeadConnector booking calendars and forms, Google reCAPTCHA (spam protection), security and session cookies, the eb_consent preference cookie |
Page delivery, cart and checkout, forms, security, remembering your privacy choices | Always on |
| Necessary | LeadConnector chat widget and appointment booking calendar | Lets you chat or text with our team and book a consultation. The widget loads with the page; nothing you type is sent until you use it. | Always on |
| Advertising | Google Tag Manager, Google Ads and Google Analytics (Google tag / Site Kit); Meta (Facebook) Pixel; Microsoft Bing Ads (UET); LinkedIn Insight Tag; LeadConnector call-tracking phone numbers; HandL UTM Grabber and Inbound Leads, which record the ad campaign or source that brought you to the Site | Measure which ads lead to inquiries and show relevant ads. These tools receive browsing and device information, never the contact details you enter in our forms. | Off until you opt in |
Because Google, Meta, Microsoft, and LinkedIn may combine this browsing data with data from other sites, it may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. That is why it stays off unless you allow it.
Your Privacy Choices. You can review or change your choices at any time with the “Your Privacy Choices” link at the bottom of every page, or open your privacy choices now. Turning advertising off stops those tools from loading on future page views and removes their cookies where possible.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser, and advertising tools stay off even if you previously allowed them. Because no industry standard exists for “Do Not Track” signals, we respond to GPC rather than to Do Not Track.
6. Phone Calls and Chat
Calls to us may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance, training, and to keep an accurate record of your order. If a call is recorded, you will hear a notice at the start of the call, and by staying on the line you consent to recording. If you do not want your call recorded, tell the representative or hang up and email us instead.
Live chat and text messaging are provided through LeadConnector, our customer messaging service provider. Messages you send are stored on our behalf so our team can respond and keep a record of the conversation, and are not used by LeadConnector for its own purposes. Please do not share payment card numbers or other sensitive information in chat or text.
7. Marketing Communications
We send marketing messages only if you opt in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can reply STOP to any text message. You can also use our contact form to opt out. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still contact you about an active quote or order. Consent to receive marketing is never a condition of purchase.
8. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above:
- Quote and inquiry information: up to 3 years after your last contact with us.
- Order, payment, and warranty records: for the warranty period plus 7 years, for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.
- Call recordings and chat or text transcripts: up to 2 years, unless needed longer to resolve a dispute.
- Consent preferences: 12 months in your browser, after which we ask again.
9. Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of recipients.
- Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your information or share your contact details. You can opt out of advertising cookies through Your Privacy Choices or with a GPC signal.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you this right.
- Non-discrimination. We will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised your rights.
How to submit a request. Send us a message through our contact form starting with “Privacy Request,” or call us at (828) 268-3503. To verify your request, we will match information you give us, such as your name, email, phone number, and quote or order number, to our records. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend once by another 45 days and will tell you why. You may use an authorized agent; we will require your signed permission and may ask you to verify your identity directly.
Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
10. Rights in Other States
Depending on where you live, including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and profiling. Submit requests the same way as described above. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject “Privacy Appeal.” We will respond within the time required by your state’s law. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General.
11. Children
The Site is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use the phone or our forms, not email, to send sensitive details.
13. Changes to This Policy
We review this policy at least once every 12 months and whenever our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on the Site.
