Here are the top 3 things to remember when considering buying a metal structure

You have the the size decided on, color picked out, and siding squared away but you can’t stop there. Once you have the basics decided on you still have three more steps to take that are often overlooked. These include certifications, ground preparation, and anchorage.

Certification

In various town or city limits they require you to pull a permit in order to have a building on your property and sometimes it has to be certified. In other cases a certification is dependent on where you live in the country. Some places have high wind rates and other have snow load requirements that have to be met. The process for either situation is not difficult and if you have any questions feel free to call us at (866) 535-0262.

Ground Preparation

In order for your metal structure to be as efficient as possible it is critical that you have a level ground to build on. If it is lopsided or has a lean it could make the structure unstable and when it rains or snows all of the precipitation will run off the lower side onto whatever is below. If you think your site is level it is never a bad idea to get a second opinion. There are companies in your area that can survey the area for you. Once you have your building ordered and the installers are there to build the first thing they will do is check to ensure the ground is level and from there they will decide if it is safe to build.

Anchors

Anchors are all dependent on the installation surface, whether a permit is required, and the type of soil. Auger anchors are not needed on concrete or cement installations; however, mobile home anchors are always recommended when metal carports, metal barns, or metal garages are installed over sandy soil conditions. If you have sandy soil and plan to have the metal structure installed on the ground or dirt, make sure to add auger anchors to your order.
